17 July 2018 – Sunday’s data science team consisting of a software engineer and three data scientists won the AWS Hackdays Bangkok. They are now off to the finals in Jakarta in September!
The team, calling themselves by the name “Sunday Morning”, won the semi-finals for their innovative claims assessment model – the Automate Car Damage Assessment Solution which deploys Amazon Web Services’ tools including AWS Lambda, Amazon SageMaker, and Amazon Rekognition.
The judging criteria for the competition are innovativeness, business impact, implementation, and user experience.
Sunday’s team which is made up of Autsakorn Tanyianniti, Padungkiat Tamasee, Phuwit Vititayanon, and Tunchanok Ngamsaowaros proposed their state-of-the-art claims solution in the Fintech category. They will represent Thailand in the grand finale in Jakarta, Indonesia on 19-20 September 2018.
As Thailand’s first and only InsurTech company, Sunday Ins has implemented big data analytics and machine learning technology on AWS’s flexible, scalable cloud platform to avoid capital costs of on-premises data centers while enabling the company to expand its operation in a jiffy.
Looking ahead, Cindy Kua, Sunday’s co-founder and CEO expects Sunday to expand its operation to other countries in Southeast Asia, and the flexible AWS platform it currently employs will enable Sunday to expand without the burden of high management and maintenance costs associated with traditional on-premises data centers.
